Journal Writing
I received my first journal when I was 8 years old on my baptism day. I would write very sporadically, but eventually filled the book when I was around 16. I don't know what started it, but from the age 16 and on, I wrote almost every day. Usually, it was just an account of what I did that day - not very emotional, but a record of my life. I found that this helped me process my day, and at the end of every night, I had a hard time sleeping if I hadn't written. My mind seemed to not be able to shut off until it was all down on paper. If I happened to have not written one night, I would write two entries the next day, as to not miss anything. I have about 16 or 17 full journals in my hope chest, saving until, I guess if my children want to read them. Also they are sometimes hilarious for my husband and me to go back and read through. Anyway, since I got married (approx. 15 months ago) I have written in my journal maybe 5 times. At first I felt I just didn't have time, then I completely forgot about doing it all together. I have discovered though, that because I'm married now, I don't have to process to my journal every night, I just talk to my husband instead. While this has its benefits, I am realizing all the memories and events I have never recorded. So today I've decided to use this blog to go back through my unrecorded life's events (so that they may be written somewhere) and of course write about new things to come along the way. Also this may give me more incentive to take pictures, which I am terrible at doing. But every day I see my baby girl getting bigger and bigger and I don't want to miss or forget anything!
